A Literacy Program in Denham Springs
In a world where one out of every five children struggles with dyslexia, Reading Restorations is a literacy program in Denham Springs providing structured instruction by trained tutors.
Reading Restorations is open to ANYONE who struggles with the written word.
We offer both on-site and virtual tutoring.
The on-site sessions take place twice weekly, Monday – Thursday, from 9 AM to 7 PM.

Unfortunately, many never learn that they have dyslexia and do not realize that with proper instruction, dyslexia can be remediated.
Oftentimes, such instruction is expensive and out of reach for many who need it.
And yet, we know that when the struggle is identified early, closing the gap helps preserve one’s identity, worth, and dignity.
One-on-One Literacy Tutoring
If one in five people of the general public is dyslexic, then one in five of the children participating in our after-school program the LANDers, and one in five of those who join our Saturday classes in the arts through the Young Artists’ Academy are likely struggling with reading, writing, and spelling.
Reading Restorations offers opportunities for underserved communities in Denham Springs.
Struggling readers in our non-profit programs for children are tutored twice a week, through scholarships.
Funding for these sessions comes from donations to Kindness Keepers.
We are extremely grateful for all those who continue to help us keep these programs available.
Thank you.
Affordable Reading and Writing Instruction
Reading Restorations also provides paid, yet affordable, tutoring sessions to struggling readers of all ages, children and adults alike.
We know how expensive it is to get the qualified help you may need for a student or adult struggling with reading and writing.
And we know that some families may even have more than one child who needs literacy tutoring.
We provide an affordable option for everyone in Denham Springs and Greater Baton Rouge who is looking for one-on-one reading and writing tutors for a struggling reader.
Get in touch with us and let us know your needs so we can tell you what we can offer.
Qualified Literacy Tutors in Denham Springs
Our tutors are trained in a multisensory approach to structured literacy instruction which helps students who are not able to close the learning gap in regular reading classes.
Along with tutoring the children, they train parents to educate and support their dyslexic children from home by designing home curriculums to support what Reading Restorations teaches in their sessions with the children. They also consult parents looking for answers, support, and solutions for their struggling readers.
Ellen DiMaria leads the program.
Ellen’s background is invaluable.
She spent 11 years teaching 1st-grade reading and 28 years homeschooling her own children. Ellen has the first-hand experience with students who are not getting the multisensory instruction they need to achieve their reading and writing goals.
In fact, her own daughter was one of those struggling students.
Leslie Akin, the Founder of Kindness Keepers, tutors the children of Kindness Keepers programs who struggle with literacy. Leslie has years of experience with children as she has led the Luke 10:27 Children’s Ministry since its beginning.

Testimonial from the Mother of a Recent Graduate
This has been a journey for Hank. He was diagnosed with dyslexia 2 years ago and he has now graduated from the tutoring program. This has been 2 years at 2 days a week in Denham Springs with the most kind and patient lady I could have ever met. She took my sweet little second grader who shed many many tears over his school work and turned him into a confident student who never shed another tear over school work again.
Everyday after tutoring they would take each other on in a Nerf basketball game playing Pig and Horse. I asked him a couple of months ago if he would be sad or happy when tutoring was over. He said happy to not have to BE tutored, but sad to leave Ms. Ellen DiMaria. They formed a connection/bond that will never be broken.
We are so blessed to have her in our lives and I can’t wait to send a graduation invitation to her one day. Thank you so much for everything you have done for Hank.
